Athletes in record books
NINE athletes from the Whitsunday Athletics Club competed in the RACQ North Queensland (NQ) Games held in Mackay over the weekend. (Whitsunday Times)
Conditions weren't ideal however the athletes still competed and recorded some great results across the board.
All athletes received a sponsorship bag and all age groups received a medal and certificate for competing in the games.
With athletes ranging from five-year-old Matthew Smith to 65 and 66-year-old Betty and Selwyn Hawken, the club was well represented and all the Whitsunday athletes put in great efforts.
Several NQ games records were broken by Whitsunday athletes with both the Hawkens' and 14-year-old Katie Campbell etching their name into the record books.
